How to get around

How to get around?

Want to know the best ways to get around town? Here are a few tips: Los Angeles is not well known for it’s public transportation, though they have been working for years on improving this. If you are looking for affordable ways to travel around the widespread city ride sharing options like Lyft Line and Uber Pool are generally cost efficient ways of getting around. Alternatively the buses are pretty reliable and safe, though with traffic it can take a large part of your day to get anywhere. Try to avoid taxis and cabs as they tend to be much more expensive.

For shorter trips try renting a scooter or bike to get around. Most of our locations are very central and in great neighborhoods which makes walking to local restaurants and shops very easy.

Typical Costs For Transportation

Transportation – Costs can vary greatly depending what time of day you are traveling. For example anywhere from 7 am – 10 am on weekdays the traffic on the freeway will be extremely busy. On weekends, freeways to will be packed with people traveling from outside the city to the beach.

Suggested daily budget – 10-15 USD (Note: This is a suggested budget assuming you’re using local transportation, sharing rides. Using the budget tips below, you can always lower this number. However, if you tend to go out everyday using uber or lyft, expect this to be higher!)

Money Saving Tips

Walk when possible Pro tip for traveling for less is to walk outside of crowded areas or airports and call your lyft or uber once you are in a less crowded area. Not only will the ride be able to pick you up more easily, but you'll likely knock off a few dollars from your ride.
Ride with Uber Choose the shared option on Uber or Lyft. This will always save you 25-50% of the cost of having a solo ride. We are in the age of sharing (PodShare!) so meet some new friends on your ride and save some $ in the process.
